The combination of a natural 50mm perspective and F1.8 maximum aperture gives photographers plenty of control over depth of field, with the nine-blade circular diaphragm helping to render smooth out-of-focus areas. Panasonic positions this focal length for subjects ranging from portraits to landscapes, giving it the versatility expected from a standard prime.
High optical performance from a compact prime
Nine elements arranged in eight groups include three aspherical elements, one ED element and one UHR element. Panasonic uses the aspherical optics to support resolution and bokeh rendering, while the ED element helps suppress chromatic aberration. This optical formula is contained within a body measuring approximately 82 mm long and 73.6 mm in maximum diameter.
Confident focusing for stills and video
A linear motor provides fast, accurate and quiet autofocus, giving the prime credentials for hybrid shooting as well as conventional photography. When used with compatible phase-detection AF Lumix bodies, Panasonic highlights the smooth focusing performance and near-silent operation of its F1.8 series.
Smoother focus transitions for filmmaking
Video performance has been considered at optical and aperture level. Focus breathing is suppressed to reduce unwanted changes in angle of view as focus moves between different distances, while micro-step aperture control helps produce smoother exposure changes during recording.
Part of a consistent F1.8 prime system
Panasonic’s S Series F1.8 primes share common external dimensions, control positioning and 67 mm filter compatibility. Their closely matched centre of gravity is particularly useful when changing focal lengths on a gimbal, where less rebalancing may be required. Panasonic also works to maintain consistent colour and rendering characteristics throughout the series, which benefits mixed-lens stills and video projects.
Ready for shooting in more demanding conditions
Dust, splash and freeze-resistant construction supports use down to a recommended operating temperature of -10°C. This does not make the optic waterproof, but provides additional reassurance when conditions become less favourable.

The included DMW-BLK22E is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery rated at 7.2 V, 2200 mAh and 16 Wh. Keeping another compatible battery charged provides a straightforward way to extend shooting sessions or carry backup power rather than relying on a single battery.

Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.
- Like New – The equipment is in a condition as if you have just bought it from the manufacturer. The item is still considered to be ‘Like New’ even without the original packaging and accessories. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect working order. Lenses are optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect excellent order.
- Cameras – Should have no marks on the LCD screen
- Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements and optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Very Good – The equipment may have some slight cosmetic wear to the paintwork and cosmetic blemishes with only light signs of use and the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – The LCD screen may have small signs of wear that does not affect its display
- Lenses – The mount of the lens will start to show signs of wear
- Good – The equipment is showing more obvious signs of cosmetic wear and blemishes, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen may have scratches or wear that is starting to affect the display.
- Lenses – May have slight dust inside that does not affect images. The mount shows signs of use.
- Well Used – The equipment will show significant signs of wear. The paintwork will be coming away in large areas exposing the metal work, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body.
- Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens.
